Premium ER4043 Composition: Made with 5% silicon (AlSi5) for high fluidity, promoting excellent weldability and bright, clean bead appearance in general-purpose TIG applications.

Reduced Cracking Sensitivity: The silicon content helps minimize weld cracking, making this alloy a widely preferred choice for joining various aluminum grades, including castings and forgings.

Versatile Aluminum Application: Suitable for welding common aluminum alloys such as 3003, 6061, 5052, 3004, and 6063, ideal for repair, fabrication, and thermal-treated base metals.

Optimal TIG Specifications: Each rod measures 3/32" (2.4mm) in diameter and 16" (406.4mm) in length, bundled in a convenient 5-pound package for professional and workshop use.

Recommended Shielding Gas: Best performance achieved when used with 100% Argon, Helium, or an Argon/Helium mixed shielding gas, ensuring a stable arc and high-quality welds.

Q: Is 3/32" the right size for my project?

A: This is the most versatile size for aluminum fabrication.
Best For: Materials ranging from 3/32" (2.4mm) up to 3/16" (4.8mm) thick.
Why use it? It is stiff enough to feed easily through welding gloves but melts quickly enough to control the puddle on standard 1/8" aluminum plate, angle iron, and tubing.

Q: What is the difference between ER4043 and ER5356?

A: ER4043 (this product) is the High-Silicon option.
ER4043: Flows like water ("wets out" better), is less prone to cracking on 6061, and creates a shiny weld bead.
ER5356: Is stronger, stiffer to feed, and matches color better when anodized.
Verdict: Use ER4043 for general fabrication, water tanks, and castings.

Q: Can I anodize parts welded with this rod?

A: No.
The Issue: ER4043 contains 5% Silicon. When anodized, the silicon turns Dark Gray or Black.
The Result: You will have a nice colored part with a black weld seam. If color matching is required, you must use ER5356 filler rod.
Alloy Compatibility

Q: What aluminum grades can I weld with this?

A: ER4043 is widely used for:
6000 Series: 6061, 6063 (Structural tubing, bicycle frames, brackets).
3000 Series: 3003, 3004 (Sheet metal, tanks).
Castings: 356.0, A356.0 (Repairing engine blocks, transmission cases).
Note: While it can weld 5052, ER5356 is often preferred for 5000-series alloys for higher strength.

Q: Can I use this to fix a cracked engine block or transmission case?

A: Yes. ER4043 is the industry standard for welding Cast Aluminum. Most castings contain silicon, so this high-silicon rod blends perfectly with the base metal to prevent cracking during the repair.
Setup & Technique

Q: Do I need special gas?

A: Yes. You must use 100% Argon.
Process: Aluminum requires AC TIG (Alternating Current). You cannot use DC TIG.
Prep: Aluminum must be cleaned thoroughly. Use a Stainless Steel Wire Brush (dedicated to aluminum only) to remove the oxide layer, and wipe the rod with Acetone to remove any surface oils before welding.

Q: Why is the rod so soft?

A: ER4043 is softer than other aluminum alloys.
Feeding Tip: If the rod bends in your hand while feeding, try holding it closer to the torch (shorten your grip distance) or slightly unspooling it to straighten it before use.
