Good welder for hobbyist or homeowner

I’m not a professional welder or anything but for this price I do not think this is a bad deal at all. Although there are tons of mixed reviews on the 135 and a lot of it is probably from poor quality control from the pictures and reviews I read, I think it’s a good machine for a hobbyist or homeowners who has small projects occasionally. And I may have just got lucky and received a “good one” so I still advise do your own research into the welder before purchase and verify it is designed for what you need.

Compared to my harbor freight welder (Chicago electric 125) this thing knocks it out of the park which I truly believe is because it’s a DC machine that you can swap your leads around for proper polarity for different styles of welding. I have not tried tig welding with it yet because I have not purchased a tig torch after seeing how it handles flux core and stick I think it will do well.

This welder will not take the place of a good Lincoln or miller or other big name or high quality welders but definitely has its place and does the job pretty well. It’s not the best but it’s definitely not the worst either way it falls in the middle for me.

All in all I give it a 7/10 because again for this price and it welds smooth and hasn't gave me any issues and for what it is designed to do it does it well.

Ease of use

So, very pleased with this product. I found this on sale. It came complete with a spool of flux core wire. Ready to weld out of the box? You can't buy much for a 100 bucks when it comes to welding or so. I thought I was thoroughly impressed by this unit. I am fairly new to welding. However, Wanted to be able to teach myself via YouTube university.
I am pleased to say this unit functions. Well, and comes complete with more than enough information to make you successful with this one machine. You are able to flux, core weld, here are some samples of what this welder can do not a professional by any means

So far an AMAZING welder
So far the welder has performed the way it was expected. The only downfall is when I used the thick rod of 6011 it made the breaker trip. Power for the 110v welder worked perfectly at work with flux and thinner rod of 6011. The welders versatility I can say so far is amazing. The greatest part about this welder is that it is very portable and you can take it anywhere you need that has a 110v plug but you have to make sure that the breaker system can hold up to 40A for maximum use. It worked great and adhered perfectly but the only issue I have with those wire spools is that they are not labeled on the box or the vacuum seal. Stability of the welder from power to the welder box to being stable on a table or ground seemed perfect. Everything that got dirty was very easily cleaned off. Future reviews and issues will be posted when I come across anything.

Great DIY home welder
I'm by no means a professional welder. I did a lot of research with YouTube reviews and read lots of reviews on Flux core welding units. My garage is wired for 120v, so I needed a cost effective, 120v welder. I almost bought the HF titanium 135 unit. I like that I can stick/arc weld with the welder and that was what sold me on this one. Loading Flux core wire is pretty straight forward and hooking up the welding leads is simple. I did change out the MIG shielding nozzle for a Flux core shield and that allows for a less obstructed view of your weld pool area. I've done a lot of practice weld beads and built my first project using the square tubing from an old generator to build a small project for my charcoal grill. Once you dial in your voltage/wire speed, this thing welds awesome...In my opionion. I'm extremely happy with the PHOENISING welder and look forward to completing some of my other projects.

This welding & grinding face shield is high quality, well made, easily adjusted for head fit comfort, and comes with extra lens protection plastic covers.

It was packed well and arrived next day. I decided to reuse the plastic bag it came in to keep it dust free while stored on my welding cart.

I’m impressed with how well it works. It quickly darkens, and the recovery time for it to go clear again has plenty of adjustment. I’ve got mine set at the fast side, so I can quickly assess the weld I just made. Shade darkness is easily set with your left had, and the knob is on the outside. The viewing area is small compared to the full face or the new panoramic style, but more than adequate. The shade control also can lock the shade to clear for grinding. Very slick, although I probably won’t use it for grinding.

I’ve already used it to TIG weld a project I was working on, and did some 308 SS stick welds with it on another project. I was able to go from stick to TIG with a simple twist of the external darkness knob. Before darkening to weld, viewing is clear and natural looking.

You can’t beat this welding shield for the price, and it even allows me to use my respirator with plenty of room between it and the face shield.

The only complaint I had was the button battery used to power the shade was dead when it arrived. When I hit the shade test button nothing happened. I figured I would have to send the helmet back, but when I took the cover off the battery I found it incorrectly installed. The battery had draining completely do to this mistake, but I already had a spare supplied with my purchase. A quick swap out (with correct insertion), and it worked perfectly;-).

So let me begin by saying I've been welding professionally for over 30 years and have had a lot of goods. So when I first got this cheap hood my expectations were very very low. However I was impressed enough that I am writing a review (which I've never done for any product!) I used and abused this hood and found very few flaws. Am I saying this is the best hood on the market? Hell no! What I am saying is that for the money, it gives you all the features a good hood needs, it works great, is light and comfortable, and a great choice for anyone who welds in their garage, or someone getting into a welding career. Or if you got a teenager who's wanting to learn to weld. This is a great hood! Sadly mine gave out on me, but that was more a me thing then the hood itself. In my job, I weld up to 3" thick plate at 400 plus amps, and I've had even high dollar Lincoln's and millers that failed under less torment. So if your looking for a good hood that works great, and can't afford a $500 Lincoln, this is a great choice!

Me gusta hacer proyectos ocasionalmente, me gustó el diseño, hubiera estado bien algún diseño bonito a color, no me refiero a una calavera y otra cosa así, algo de buen gusto, pero prefiero así a traer un águila o la bandera de algún pais; Se ve y se siente de buena calidad, trae varios ajustes, también te dice si la batería está baja, los mecanismos para la cabeza me gustaron bastante además de la función a color se ve súper, trae una batería de repuesto y unos protectores de recambio. Estoy muy contento con la compra!

It arrived the a few days after placing the order. The helmet build seems solid with plenty of room for my respirator. It took a couple of minutes reading the instructions, but I figured out the settings. Once I started to run a bead it was evident that this helmet was a game changer. The field of view is amazing, but when you see the Tru Color and the clarity of the view! Wow it is something to behold.
The control knobs are on the outside of the helmet, and very easy to adjust on the fly. the test button is on the inside which is nice that it is cause once you test, it is out of the way. The knobs that lock the helmet up really need to be tight, the sweet spot that holds it up and still lets you flip it down can be elusive. BUT with the view through the lens, I find I put it down and go to work. There is no need to do a lot of flipping.

Its is a quality Helmet that works perfectly, the price is right, the build quality is evident, and the spare screen protectors are a plus. Get one!

Side by side comparison with Harbor Freight Vulcan...

Comparing the two by trying to read small text through them both, undarkened of course, there is a difference. The optical quality just isn't as good. It's almost like having a layer of protective coating still on the lens, there's just a general distortion in the image. I made sure all the lenses in the were clean and didn't have any protective coatings on them. Even looking at things farther away, there's definitely some distortion in the lens compared to the Harbor Freight Vulcan.

That being said, this is a fourty dollars welding helmet. It's perfectly fine for that kind of money. Yeah the headgear isn't great and the whole helmet is flimsy, but it will do the job. Is the base model $130 Harbor Freight Vulcan helmet better? In my opinion having both of them side by side, yes the HF unit is better.

Handy little welder!

I purchased this welder to handle a small job that I'd have had to pay someone three times as much to do. After playing around with it, I was able to weld the pipe rail I was working on, pretty effectively. This is a pretty easy to use welder for someone who's just starting out welding. The face shield is useless, and the amperage needs to be dialed higher than you would traditionally (it may just be my machine), but it's pretty good overall. It is small enough to keep in my work truck for emergencies!
